COLLECTING RECYCLABLE ITEMS – SUNDAY, MAY 1, 2022 FROM 10:15 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
April 22 is recognized as Earth Day. We should be aware and think about how we can help sustain the earth for future generations. Every little action that each of us takes will mount to greater results when we all work together.
What can you do? Start collecting and gathering your items and on Sunday, May 1, 2022 after temple service between 10:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. we will be available at Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple to collect your recycle items you may have laying around your house. We will have it recycled and keep it out of our landfills.
We will accept:
- Cardboard items
- Recycle #5 items (take out containers, lids, cups, medicine containers). If recycling your medicine containers, please make sure to take off your personal information.
- HI-5 items like your bottles, cans, and plastics.
FOLD CRANES (TSURU) OUT OF RECYCLED PAPER
Don’t throw away your old calendars or magazines. Cute them down to squares and start folding cranes (tsuru) with the recycled paper. You can drop off any completed cranes on the recycle day (May 1, 2022) as well. Continue folding cranes and drop them off as you are done. We are teaming up with the East Hawaii Rotary Club’s Peace Committee to promote peace through Origami Peace Cranes (Tsuru) Project. For Peace Day in September we will string the cranes you made and share them to be displayed at the Hawaii County Building.
