Temple Chef of Puna – June 9, 2019
Join us on Sunday, June 9, 2019 for our Temple Chef of Puna cooking competition. There will be three teams challenging each other after temple service. Cooking will start at 10:45 a.m. The three teams will consist of three people and they will need to cook a dish in 45 minutes that will be tasted by our three judges. The team will consist of a head chef and two sous chefs. The teams are allowed to bring three vegetables, three spices/condiments, and one protein. We will provide a SECRET ingredient that they will need to incorporate into their dish. They are allowed to wash their vegetables before the event, but all chopping, dicing, slicing, etc. will be done in the 45 minutes allotted to them.
We will provide a single-burner portable stove for each team. Other items that will be provided are onion, garlic, ginger, salt, pepper, shoyu, ketchup, mustard, garlic salt, sugar, flour, a pitcher of water, and oil. Scoring will be based on presentation; taste; and Blue Zone Approved/Healthy dish.
Come support our three teams which are Team Puna Taiko; Team Noble Path; and Team Sr. YBA. All three teams are winners already as they took the challenge and participating in this event. Good luck to all the teams.
