Ring Your Bells for Peace Day – Friday, September 20, 2024
Peace Day is officially on September 21.
The Ring Your Bells for Peace Day will be held on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2024. atThis is being held on this day to give the school groups an opportunity to participate as well.
Come join us at Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple to ring the kansho bell and whatever bell you may have.
8:00 a.m. Puna Hongwanji Temple doors open
8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. We will join via Zoom the Ring Your Bells for Peace Day event.
9:00 a.m. will be a moment of silence.
9:01 a.m. everyone will simultaneously ring your bells.
After the event in the dining room we will watch an animated film that depicts the hardships a young brother and sister faced as orphans after World War II. (89 minutes English dub).
On Sunday, September 22, 2024 join us at Puna Hongwanji in our social hall (below the temple). We will have a program promoting peace. We will have a display of Sadako’s story donated by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum to the Hilo High School Japanese Club. We will have some other activities planned as well. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Art Taniguchi. Stay tuned as we finalize the event.
