Join us on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Event will be at the Sangha Hall located at 398 Kilauea Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii.
Presentation includes:
10:00 a.m. – Japanese immigrants and their descendants in Hawaii. Presenter: Mr. Arnold Hiura, President, Executive Director of Hawaii Japanese Center
10:45 a.m. – Hongwanji in Hawaii – Past, Present, Future. Presenter: Dr. Dexter Mar, President of Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin
11:30 a.m. – Buddhism, the Younger Generation and Engaging in the World
12:15 p.m. – Buddhist weddings in Hongwanji. Rev. Katsuya Kusunoki, Rimban Chief Minister of Seattle Betsuin
1:00 p.m. – Interfaith Dialogue: Homelessness on the Big Island and of spirituality
2:00 p.m. – Puna Taiko Performance
2:30 p.m. – Closing
There will be a concession that will be open from 11:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Temple displays, learn to make paper cranes, coloring for the children and children at heart, and a photo booth to commemorate the 130th Anniversary of Honpa Hongwanji in Hawaii. There are some wonderful door prizes available from businesses around town.
