Puna Hongwanji Children’s Day Sharing Joy 
We invite all of you to come join us at our Puna Hongwanji Children’s Day Sharing Joy event on our temple grounds. The event will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

We will have games, prizes, relay games, entertainment, arts/crafts to make and take, onolicious food, body art, Aloha Bubbles, Keiki ID, Zippedy the Clown, Puna Hongwanji Boutique, Jan-Ken-Po, Soak ‘n Wet dunk tank, and much more
Entertainment and Relay Events
During the 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon hours, join us on the grassy area next to the Columbarium on the Hilo side for some relay games put on by our Puna Taiko group. No registration required to participate. Show up and have some fun.
In the entertainment tent we will have the following:
10:00 a.m. Lori Lei’s Hula Studio
11:00 a.m.. Keonepoko Elementary Choir
1:00 p.m. Ryan Coad (ukulele)
1:30 p.m. Puna Taiko
Be on the look out for Zippedy the Clown who will be doing a walkabout, doing magic for a few children at a time, blowing bubbles, and giving out stickers.
In the back breezeway by the men’s bathroom area we will have a body artist.
Games and Make and Take Arts and Crafts in the Social Hall
In the Social Hall join the team from Ben Franklin Crafts to make and take items in time for graduation, Mother’s Day, and Boy’s Day/ Children’s Day in May.
Straw Eyelash Lei: Select your own colors to make your lei. Complete one lei for $10.
Mother’s Day Spring Bouquet: Make a spring bouquet just in time for Mother’s Day. Cost is $3
Boy’s Day Fish and Other Origami Projects: Make your own fish and other origami projects. By donation – proceeds collected will be donated to Puna Hongwanji Mission.
Additional Arts and Crafts: Come learn to make a paper lantern that you can bring back on July 1, 2023 when we have our Puna Hongwanji Bon Dance.
Find the coloring table to color your kabuto (Samurai hat), fish, etc.
GAMES: Purchase a game card for $3 (12 punches per card = $0.25 a punch) to play the variety of games. When you win you will be given tickets to turn in for prizes of your choice. There will be a variety of games available in the social hall. Come check out the games.
JAN-KEN-PO – PLAYED EVERY HALF HOUR
Are you ready to play Jan-Ken-Po? Pay with your game card to play Jan-Ken-Po. Come by prior to the start time so that those that pay can receive a wrist band to indicate that you are part of the Jan-Ken-Po games. The wrist band color will change for each game times. Winner of each Jan-Ken-Po session will win a $5 gift card.

Hawaii Police Department Keiki Identification Cards
Let’s protect our keiki. If you keiki does not have a Keiki ID card or if it is outdated come get a new one for them. The Hawaii Police Department Community Policing Officers will be available to process free Keiki IDs from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Let’s keep our keiki safe.
The Hawaii Police Department Community Policing Officers will be in the social hall to process the IDs.
