Backpack Drive at Puna Hongwanji until Sunday, July 7, 2024
Puna Hongwanji will be participating in the Hawaii Police Department backpack again this year. Bags will be collected until Sunday, July 7, 2024. This will be our third year in participating to collect backpacks. They have requested new and unused backpacks. Backpacks are the most requested non-food item requested by charities in Hawaii. The backpacks collected will be delivered to the Hawaii Police Department. The donated backpacks will be distributed to children at women’s shelters, homeless shelters, and transitional housing facilities around the island.
Let’s help our keiki to be able to own their very own backpack as they go to school. Last year we donated 48 backpacks and the previous year 54 backpacks.
Please drop them off by Sunday, July 7, 2024. You may also bring them to the Bon Dance and drop them off by the Children’s Game area in the social hall.
