International Peace Day Gathering – Sunday, September 21, 2025 and Monday, September 22, 2025

INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY GATHERING – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2025 AT 9:00 A.M.

All are invited to join us on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in the Puna Hongwanji social hall for our International Peace Day Gathering.

We will provide Zoom for this event, but we encourage you to come in person.  The zoom link was already emailed out to those that have asked to join our zoom account.  Email us at mpunahongwanji@twc.com.  Please email us before 7 am on Sunday morning.

Our keynote speaker will be Aya Shehata.  Aya is a teacher at Hilo High School.  She is the advisor for the Hilo High School Japan Club.  Her club has been active in participating at events at Puna Hongwanji.  Aya’s message will be “Planting Seeds of Compassion to Grow Our Community”.

We will have messages of peace from various speakers, peace-building games, songs, story of Sadako Sasaki, and more.

Refreshments will be provided after the event.

RING YOUR BELL FOR PEACE – MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2025 AT 8:30AM

Join us on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. for the Ring Your Bell for Peace Day.  We will start off in the temple and watch the event online via Zoom.  At 9:01 a.m. we will get the signal from Bishop Umitani to start ringing our bells.  We will continue to ring our bells as they will be taking Zoom videos during this time.  You may bring your own bell as well.  After the program is over we will head over to the dining room for some discussion on peace.

Light refreshments will be provided.
