Slippers Drive – Due by April 26, 2026
At Puna Hongwanji we decided to help the Zonta Club of Hilo with their drive in April since this is an event that will help our keiki in the Puna District. The Zonta Club of Hilo is collecting slippers and backpacks for the students of Mt. View Elementary School. We are helping with the slippers drive.
Please help us collect slippers for students aged 4-10 years old. Children slipper sizes being collected are sizes 5-8. You can drop off your donation at Puna Hongwanji by Sunday, April 26, 2026 as we will organize to drop off our collection to Mt. View Elementary School. You can drop off the slippers during our Children’s Day event on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10 am – 2 pm.
We are saving our backpack collection for later this year in June. We have been collecting backpacks to support the Hawaii Police Department backpack drive. The backpacks we have been donating to the Keaau Police Department has been staying in the Puna District for our keiki.

May 8, 2026 Update: Mahalo to everyone that participated in the slippers drive. We donated 35 pairs of slippers to Mt. View Elementary School. Thank you for making a difference!
