Join us in-person (with a mask) or online via Zoom.  Service will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Our guest speaker will be Mrs. Peggy Farias, President of W.H. Shipman, Ltd.  She will share the history of Mr. Herbert Shipman and the bodhi tree he planted.

A little history of our relationship with Mr. Herbert Shipman and Puna Hongwanji…..Hebert Shipman was President of W.H. Shipman, Ltd., which was the lessor of Olaa Hongwanji, suggested the mission change its name to Puna Hongwanji, since it served the entire Puna district.  He recommended to the Shipman board of directors that they donated to the mission the grounds and additional land, with the mission’s name change.  In 1957 the temple name changed to Puna Hongwanji Mission.

All are welcome to attend in-person or online.
